This is kind of a hard question to answer. Personally, I don’t think that Dio is capable of true, healthy romantic love, but the closest he would get is to people who were different from him. Dio is manipulative, cruel and self-centered, and he was raised in a crass and rough environment, so he’s drawn to people who are ‘classy’, as he would put it. Those who were polite and knew when to speak or to be silent. However, seeing as how much he hated Jonathan, they couldn’t be too kind or self-righteous. Someone who was rational and able to play Devil’s Advocate, if you will, and who didn’t easily fall into Dio’s mind traps as he enjoys a challenge.
A person who wouldn’t be afraid to say what they think, but also know when to back down and realize that Dio was the primary one running the show. Dio likes to read and converse a lot, so someone who shared his same literary interest and could debate and discuss ideas would be ideal. How intelligent or learned they are wouldn’t matter, so long as they were able to come up with their own opinions and give a separate insight.
