The people who make that argument never mean it as a genuine suggestion. They smugly assume the person they’re talking to lacks the talent or the means of actually following through, and they often believe that if it did happen, it would crash and burn and put them back in their “place.” They’re never prepared for the possibility of being proven wrong.
