Hello there, I have a little worries.
so, I wonder if you could give me some advice.

sometimes I’ve catched a some of messages from people from website.
people said to me “Hello, I want to repost your arts to my tumblr, could you accept it?”, it’s in Japanese. but people looks like the English user.

always I said like “No. sorry.” in English and Japanese. but almost people didn’t reply to this.(rarely some people said “Thank you for the replying”)
I’ve wrote my profile about repost-thing and I’ve wrote like “Do not repost/I can’t accept if you asking about permission” in English/Japanese. but unfortunately people continue to ask me and using this subject.
honestly I’m hard to reply to all, but I can’t imagine the any result if I was missed the reply for either one…

and recently my favorite artists had a same problem like me. however they draw very beautiful work and taking hard time for their artworks. but lot of people(maybe it’s like huge crowds?) try to talk easily and people seek permission. artists said distressfully “I’m tired for replying…” “that people has bad-manners…”.

maybe I guess that Japanese words that people said is template and that is exist on tumblr? because, I looked that almost people who asked me are tumblr user. and I guess that word be prevalent among the users…?

That is my question. especially for artists on overseas.
what would you do when you catched a similar message? is there any chance of guard for arts?

I’ve received the advices much for how to guard the arts. I think that is most effective way for people who are asking for permission. however, that way will be showing for good people who follows the manners. and as in like art museum or exhibition; I haven’t come across the artwork that has been pasted like ‘Do not Distribute’ word. if artist pasted this word on the canvas, good people make it impossible to enjoy. instead, I always think the artist’s sign is usable and common way. but I think that is digression from the central theme. sorry, but thank you for the your advices.

I(or we) have a request to ask people who has a idea for asking permission.

– firstly, Please check the artist’s profile absolutely before you send the messages for permission.

especially on pixiv, already wrote about repost directly in only English TOS through(link).
in a normal situation, artist no need to write the words “do not repost” on their profile/permalinks if artist will not allow this because of TOS. but lot of people don’t want to see. so artists should to write again that on their profile… and even if some artists not wrote that thing on their profile, that answer is not 100% yes. please remember that the artist’s works has been protected always by TOS.

– secondly, Please do not seek permission as “exception”.

as far as I can see, almost famous artists always receiving “permission request” messages from the huge crowds. perhaps they already saw the artists’s wrote the words “do not repost” things. and I had been taught that japanese template from people. that is template. maybe I guess that it can be asking easily to artists. … but that artists has been received that template from people. it’s always…. even if the artists showed the rejection about repost on their profile, lot of people asking the exception. or people try artist’s patience?

and recently, my favorite artists got angry for people who were asking and used template. but some person replying “you are very rude” to that artist. also they said like “you should be happy that I’ve been interested in contact with you”. I’ve know that all people have not a same thinking, but I can’t understand that.

okay, the guard is most easy way for artist. but lot of artist won’t try that. why? I’m sure that answer can be find by this post.

Thank you for making this post and addressing this issue. I drew a comic on Tumblr over two years ago that surpassed 250,000 notes. I found it stolen on hundreds of websites, fourms, and even through friends sharing it on my facebook not realizing it was my art. The point is, once art is posted on Tumblr it has no boundaries. So these people reposting pixiv artist’s art on tumblr can’t control if people repost them elsewhere from here! It’s terrible!!! People don’t understand this risk I think!!! Thank you making this post I know it’s long and I’m only adding to it, but it’s important people read and grasp the issue here.

I feel sorry about that. I think that some people who are doing repost don’t know whether the arts to go anywhere.(even if got a permission) and people should have responsibility to the last. or if people would like to do different way than reposting, people can be protect the original artist. you can give some the artist’s space! it called respectful.

Do you love the your favorite artists? you also can do any good things for artists!
