There’s already been a post circling about the fact that the same guy who organized the Charlottesville White Supremacist Rally that led to the death of Heather Heyer is attempting to hold a “White Civil Rights” rally in Washington DC across the street from the White House, while Otakon is coincidentally happening about two miles away. As far as I’m aware, the application was given an approval by the National Parks Department, but it has not been issued a permit yet. But that being said, I’m still nervous as hell. Otakon has gone on record on their twitter feed that they’re monitoring the situation, and the safety of their attendees is their highest priority. But I still feel like I, and whoever can manage, should make an effort to contact the National Parks Department and voice our concerns.

Remember to be polite, and personalize your comments. I for one am going to mention how concerned I am for the safety of the con attendees, the great majority of whom are young people in their teens and early 20s.
