In late Greek mythology, a new god developed based on the Egyptian god Horus. The Greeks called him Harpocrates. He was their god of silence, secrets and confidentiality. His image was the young child Horus, sometimes in Greek garb, sometimes in Egyptian. Even the name is taken from Horus, from the Egyptian Har-pa-khered or Heru-pa-khered, meaning “Horus the Child.”

i looked this up cause i was like how the heck do you make that jump and apparently statues of heru-pa-khered have him with his finger to his lips because thats the hieroglyph for child, but its the greek/modern gesture for shushing, and they just completely misinterpreted it
